La plaza del Obispo se encuentra en la ciudad andaluza de Málaga, (España), frente a la fachada principal de la catedral de la Encarnación de Málaga conocida como “La Manquita”, en la que se puede observar su impresionante fachada y las escaleras de mármol que bajan hasta la altura de la plaza, separada del monumento por una hermosa verja, y junto al Palacio del Obispo. Es una reducida plaza de gran interés monumental caracterizada por sus pequeñas dimensiones, encerrada por dos grandes edificios religiosos y con una bella fuente de 1785 de la que surtían las aguas del Acueducto de San Telmo. El origen de esta plaza se remonta posiblemente a la época musulmana, pero adquirió su aspecto con la finalización de la fachada principal de la Catedral y del Palacio del Obispo en el siglo XVIII. En la última década del siglo XX, la plaza fue reformada y algunos de sus edificios renovados. Las obras permitieron ver los restos de una antigua muralla tardorromana y bizantina.

“La plaza del Obispo” is located in the Andalusian city of Málaga. It is in front of the famous cathedral of Málaga, called La Santa Iglesia Catedral Basílica de la Encarnación. In the square you can find the Episcopal palace of Málaga. This square is dated from the Muslim times and the palace began to be build in 1762. The floor of the square is made of grey marble stone. In the middle of the square, there is a fountain dated from the XVIII century.The fountain was used to supply water to the people who lived there.The water came from another point of tourist interest: the aqueduct of “San Telmo”. “La plaza del Obispo” is very precious for all the Malaga citizens and is a beautiful and fantastic square with the splendorous Cathedral of Málaga.
